Second Westchester Man Charged With Stealing $10K Worth Of Designer Handbags In Greenwich

Police have arrested a second Westchester man in connection with the theft of more than $10,000 worth of handbags from a Greenwich Avenue store.

Gerald Smith, 48, of Mount Vernon, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 20, for the Jan. 15 theft, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.

On April 4, Greenwich Police arrested Joshua Spillman, 40, also of Mount Vernon, and charged him with organized retail theft greater than $10,000, conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny.

Smith was caught by Nassau County Police where he was arrested on unrelated charges. 

He was then extradited to Greenwich where he was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny, larceny, and organized retail theft greater than $10,000.

Smith is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 4.

Greenwich Police said Smith is also wanted by Paramus Police in New Jersey for conspiracy to commit theft of movable property and leader of organized retail theft.
